You will find a plan with the turning circles for a wheelchair at the end of the photos.

The cottage has been adapted to disabled people as much as possible. The cottage has otherwise been kept in its original state. The bathroom is fully adapted, the interior doors have been kept original (at 0.77 m wide).

Parking
This can be done on private property or on the public road opposite the Merelaar. On the public road there is enough space to get out. On private property, there is enough space to get out on the garden side and at the back (see also the layout).

Front door/entrance
The front door is 0.79 m wide. The front door gives direct access to the dining room. The threshold is 1 cm high. The terrace near the door is horizontal.

All rooms
All light switches and power sockets are at 1.10 height.
All rooms are barrier-free.
All interior doors have a passage width of 0.77 m.
All door handles are kept original.

Dining room
The dining room has a turning radius of 1.50 m.
The table is wheelchair accessible.

Living room
The living room has a turning circle of 1.50 m.
The furniture is movable and may be moved.

Alcove (bedroom)
There is a bedroom downstairs with an electric high-low bed with separate head- and footboards. A parrot is attached to the high-low bed.
There is also a folding bed in the alcove. In front of the bed there is a turning circle of 1.50 m. The room has two access doors, which is useful when the foldaway bed is used.
There is a small wardrobe in the room.
There is a pull switch by the bed to turn off the main light.

The bed has a drop-down rack on one side, the other side is against the windowsill.

Kitchen
The kitchen sink is submersible by removing an under-cabinet. The countertop is not height-adjustable.
The fridge has two pull-out drawers. The freezer is also low.
The countertop has a standard height of 93 cm.
The washing machine is on the floor, the dryer is on top.
The oven/microwave is 1.10 m high.

Bathroom
The door opens to the outside.
The washbasin is adjustable in height.
There is a large waste bin (20 litres).
Sockets are also in this room at 1.10 m height.
The shower room is large (0.95 x 1.80 m) and has a tap at 0.70 m height. There is a Linido shower seat mounted on the wall with folding armrests. There is outlet space for toiletries at 1.30 m height.
The bath and shower have a regular mixer tap whose temperature is limited to 50 degrees.
The washbasin has a single-lever tap.
The toilet has two folding supports on the left and right.
The toilet is 45 cm high (top of toilet bowl)
0.9 x 1.2 m free standing space on one side next to toilet bowl.
0.9 x 1.2 m free standing space in front of toilet bowl.
Distance between toilet bowl and basin > 0.9 m.
Free turning circle of 1.50 m (see also layout).
The bath has an additional platform of 20 cm on one side for sitting on. A brace is attached near the bath and at the shower.

PLEASE NOTE:
The mirror is mounted directly above the washbasin.
There is no alarm system.
No assistive surface on 2nd side of toilet bowl.
No horizontal door handle.
No bath lift.
No hoist (but can be requested from Zorgsaam, see below).

Toilet
The second toilet is a normal toilet, not intended for the disabled.

Upper floor
The upper floor has a bedroom with three single beds and a bedroom with a round double bed. The stairs are not fitted with a stair lift.

Basement
The basement is not accessible to disabled people.

Garden
The routes are tiled. The terrace is spacious and has a table that can be wheeled under.
The back door is 0.88 m wide. The thresholds of the front and back door are only a few millimetres high, so rollators also ride in/out effortlessly.

Shed
The barn has a passage width of 0.88 m wide. There is no turning circle in the barn.

Moreover, the many cafés, restaurants and beach pavilions offer delicious gourmet meals.

Nature lovers are in the right place in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. The nature reserves of the Drowned Land of Saefthinge, the Zwin and the Braakman form the ideal environment for wonderful walking and cycling trips. In short, there is something for everyone in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen!

You will find cycling maps of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen in the cottage. You can rent bicycles in the village from Firma de Boer, Molendijk 1, in Hoek, telephone: 0115 44 21 44, costs: € 8 per day and € 25 per week.

Not far from Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent and Knokke, the Merelaar is an ideal starting point for pleasant day trips. Prefer to get a breath of fresh air on the beach? Then drive to nearby Breskens or look for fossils and shark teeth in Cadzand!

Welcome to our holiday cottage the Merelaar! For 15 years now, we have been renting out this lovely cottage and also using it ourselves. My parents live two houses away. They help us with the laundry and do big and small jobs around the house. You can also pick up the key there (at number 10). We always really enjoy the view and the peace and quiet of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen ourselves, really a place to unwind. It also fits enough people, which is very handy when you have three young adults in your family! Our favourite spot is the large table in the garden, under the pear tree, nice to eat outside in the shade in summer! Albert Vlug and Nelleke Guequierre

Cancellation
We recommend taking out cancellation insurance. In case of cancellation after invoicing, administration costs will be charged. If cancelled within two months before the rental date, 50% of the rental amount remains due; if cancelled within one month before the rental date, the full rental amount remains due.

Changeover day
Arrival days are Friday (for a week and weekend) and Monday (for a midweek). The tenant can move into the house after 4pm and must leave the house on the departure day (Monday for weekend rentals and Friday for week and midweek rentals) before 10am. After that, the property must be available for cleaning. When renting for longer than a week, linen and, if reserved, towel change will take place on Friday by appointment. The used linen and towels must be collected by the tenant.

Final cleaning
You must leave the flat tidy and "broom clean" (dishes clean in the dishwasher or tidy in the cupboard; furniture in its original place). If you fail to do so, you will be notified within a week. The actual additional costs for clearing and vacuuming and administration costs will then be charged, with a minimum amount of €50.

Occupancy and visitors
No more persons are allowed to stay in the accommodation than it is equipped for. Children count as full persons when determining the number of occupants. A child using the cot is not counted in the number of persons present. Bed linen for a camp bed can be rented.

Pets
Pets are not allowed.

Smoking
Smoking is not allowed indoors.

Rubbish
Household rubbish must be disposed of according to the schedule of the waste calendar and the instructions about this in the house. Information on the disposal of paper and glass can be found in the flat.

Liability
You are liable for damage and nuisance caused by you and your guests. Merelaar is not liable for:

• damage or injury caused as a result of staying on its premises or by the use of the facilities present on its premises;
• claims resulting from nuisance caused by third parties;
• information provided verbally or by telephone;
• breakdown or non-use of facilities or amenities.
• All this without prejudice to the statutory provisions. The tenant or the main tenant is jointly and severally liable for the fulfilment of all obligations arising from the reservation and stay, both of himself, of all registered persons and of guests.

Left behind objects
In consultation with the caretakers, you can collect any items left behind from the accommodation.
